Land Bank for Shepherds

Land Bank for Shepherds

About the Project

The Land Bank for Shepherds was an instrument for sustainable rural development whose main purpose was to find landowners willing to lease out rural, agricultural or forest properties that were abandoned or economically undervalued, to tenants wanting to take up pastoral farming. Conceived as a tool to stimulate local development, the Land Bank for Shepherds set out to ease access to land for current and future entrepreneurs in pastoral farming, bringing together those who need land and those who own it and are willing to let it — heading off land abandonment and landscape degradation, and contributing to the sustainable development of the rural economy.
