Applying Rural Development Policy in the Douro Verde Region, with Case Study

This project arose from the need to evaluate how the measures under the Agriculture and Rural Development Operational Programme (AGRO) and the Rural Development Programme (ProDeR – 2017 to 2013) contributed to the current growth and standing of the Douro Verde Region, with a view to continuously improving results in terms of innovation and modernisation of the business base, in the agricultural, agri-food and forestry sectors as well as other sectors growing strongly in rural areas.

The actions carried out by Ruris were:

• Definition and support of four thematic groups in the fields of agriculture, agri-food, forestry and rural areas;
• A case study on the application of rural development policy in the Douro Verde area, involving the identification, selection and interviewing of, and processing of information on, 50 business owners with projects supported under the AGRO and PRODER programmes;
• Support in preparing and submitting the application for European funding;
• Support with initial planning, monitoring and delivery of the project.
