inspirAÇÃO: Ourém + green

'inspirAÇÃO: Ourém + green' promotes networked working to revitalise the area affected by the 2022 wildfires, through an integrated strategy to develop the tourism value of the natural heritage of Agroal, in the joint parish of Freixianda, Ribeira do Fárrio and Formigais.

Agroal holds enormous tourism potential: it lies within the Site of Community Importance PTCON0045 Sicó/Alvaiázere, an area of exceptional natural and environmental value beside the River Nabão.

In summer, Agroal draws large numbers to its river beach (Blue Flag awarded), fed by the largest spring of the River Nabão and prized for its cold waters, reputed to be medicinal. During the bathing season the beach is supervised and attracts an average of some 100,000 people. Outside that season, however, Agroal attracts far fewer visitors.
