Best Practice Handbook for Entrepreneurs

Ruris prepared the "Manual de Boas Práticas para o Empreendedor" (Good Practice Handbook for Entrepreneurs), a tool to support technical assistance aimed at existing business owners and potential entrepreneurs under the "Economia Ativa no Douro Verde" project.

Ruris's preparation of the Good Practice Handbook comprised two volumes:

• Volume 1:
  • a cross-cutting look at the concept of "entrepreneurship", at the entrepreneurial potential of the Douro Verde area and at what is considered to be the profile and motivation of a successful entrepreneur. It offers a specific technical look at the stages of developing a business idea through to setting up a company, covering the associated administrative, legal and financial aspects;
• Volume 2:
  • Focused on the processing of local produce, it looks at cases of innovation at national level, as well as at adding value to and selling artisanal products. It also presents success stories from the Douro Verde area, looking at innovation in the product, the business model, the process and the approach to market.

In preparing the dossier, Ruris followed this approach:

• Planning and definition of the methodology;
• Documentary research and literature review;
• Assessment and characterisation of the area;
• Identification of leading entrepreneurs and producers;
• Gathering of information from the local stakeholders identified;
• Selection of the case studies;
• Technical analysis of company formation processes;
• Research into innovation and adding value to local produce;
• Preparation of content;
• Technical review and validation;
• Editing and preparation of the publication.
