Culture in Network of the Beiras and Serra da Estrela

The "Cultura em Rede das Beiras e Serra da Estrela" project was supported by Ruris and had as its general objective the establishment, launch and consolidation of a sub-regional territorial and institutional network dedicated to projecting and publicising the area and its identity, firmly grounded in the promotion of culture and cultural tourism.

In its first phase of implementation, the project broadly involved delivering a programme to bring the historic and urban centres of the Beiras and Serra da Estrela sub-region to life, in a Festival format featuring a set of networked activities.

The project is built on the rich and diverse heritage the area has to offer, both tangible (monuments and other buildings) and intangible (customs, gastronomy, arts).

The main actions carried out by Ruris were:

• Preparation of a programme of networked activities that encourage visits to the area and showcase its identity, its community and its culture;
• Support in delivering festivals in the old quarters of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, including touring community performances and a route of guided and staged visits;
• Support in delivering guided visits, bringing cultural venues to life and programmes to add value to cultural heritage;
• Preparation of the final project delivery report.
