Culture in Network of the Beiras and Serra da Estrela

The overall aim of the “Culture in Network of the Beiras and Serra da Estrela” project is to set up, launch and consolidate a sub-regional territorial and institutional network dedicated to projecting and publicising the territory and its identity, firmly grounded in promoting culture and cultural tourism. In its first phase, the project broadly involves delivering a programme animating the historic and urban centres of the Beiras and Serra da Estrela sub-region, in a festival format built around a set of networked activities.

The work rests on the rich and varied heritage the territory holds, both tangible (monuments and other buildings) and intangible (customs, food, the arts). It takes heritage to be a defining feature of the identity of the territory and its communities, and at the same time a point of difference in a context of strong competition between regions at every territorial scale.
