Study for the Walking Trail Network and Visitor Flow Management

RURIS designed the “Study for the Walking Trail Network and Visitor Flow Management” to support a more efficient and sustainable organisation of the walking offer across the region, bringing its natural, cultural and landscape assets to the fore without compromising their preservation.

Our work covered an analysis of the territory and the identification of existing and potential trails, together with an assessment of how they are used and of the impacts associated with visitor presence. Building on that diagnosis, we set out guidance for creating, upgrading and maintaining the routes, incorporating criteria for safety, waymarking, interpretation and conservation.

In parallel, we proposed a visitor flow management model based on monitoring mechanisms and on measures that spread visits more evenly across the year, ease pressure on sensitive areas and improve the experience of those using the trails.

The study therefore serves as a decision-support instrument, offering a technical and strategic basis for the phased rollout of the trail network and for a more responsible, joined-up and sustainable management of the territory.
