Pilot Plan for Mosaic Landscape Management

RURIS developed a Pilot Plan for Mosaic Landscape Management, aimed at the integrated and sustainable management of rural land, focused on articulating forestry, agriculture and other productive activities so as to build environmental resilience, prevent wildfire and add economic value to the territory.

The work included a detailed diagnosis of the municipality, identifying and characterising rural properties and areas with intervention potential, whether through leasing, acquisition or shared management models. On that basis we drew up business plans for sustainable forestry and farming activities, demonstrating the economic viability and the socio-economic impact of mosaic landscape management.

The Plan also set out a proposed regulatory model to support the Municipality in any future concession or sub-lease of mosaic forestry and farming operations, along with pilot intervention proposals, including innovative solutions for managing natural resources and reducing wildfire risk.

The Pilot Plan is therefore a technical and strategic decision-support instrument, providing a concrete basis for local policies on active landscape management and sustainable territorial development.
