DOLMEN

Dolmen is an organisation with a substantial track record in local development, built over 25 years of managing and delivering various instruments in the service of local development. Its geographical scope is the Douro Verde Territory, covering the Municipalities of Amarante, Baião, Cinfães, Marco de Canaveses, Penafiel and Resende. Its technical, management and financial capacity can be gauged from its creditable delivery of national and European funds, notably PIC LEADER II, LEADER +, and SP3 PRODER. It is a Local Action Group recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture and currently manages DLBC Rural | Douro Verde 2020. Dolmen is also an example of an organisation that promotes the territory's agri-food products through its network of Local Produce shops in Amarante, Baião and Marco de Canaveses. Combining the promotion of Douro Verde local produce with support for local artisans and producers in selling their goods, the shops offer a range of products showcasing the best flavours and know-how of Douro Verde, and in doing so contribute to the region's economic development.

A PRAÇA

“A Praça” is a project developed by the Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha that opened last April. The works involved an investment of around one million seven hundred thousand euros and were funded by European funds through the Centro 2020 Operational Programme. According to António Loureiro, Mayor, “it will be a landmark space that meets new expectations, a place for socialising and for promoting traditional retail and endogenous products, giving value to more direct contact between producer and consumer.” A Praça has everything it takes to attract a younger public while keeping its most loyal customers, not only through new retail and catering areas but also through cultural and leisure activities.

The University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), based in Vila Real, is a high-level institution oriented towards the creation, transmission and dissemination of culture, knowledge and science through the articulation of teaching, research and experimental development.
