Agriculture in the spotlight at ExpoGondomar’17
The 2nd edition of ExpoGondomar takes place from 25 to 28 May at the Multiusos de Gondomar, with a dedicated programme of debate on innovation in Agriculture.
Given the tradition and the importance of Agri-industry in the municipality's economy, the 2nd edition of ExpoGondomar will feature a programme of activities aimed at reflection and debate on Agriculture, with a particular focus on exploring cutting-edge innovations and techniques and on identifying opportunities in the sector for Gondomar.
Seeking to deliver a mobilising programme that generates added value for all Agriculture stakeholders, the activities will be led by nationally renowned specialists in the sector, making this a unique opportunity to access the most useful information, directly applicable to farm businesses in the municipality.
The programme of activities dedicated to the agricultural sector, within the general ExpoGondomar’17 programme, is as follows:
1. Course “Precision Agriculture”

Speaker: Prof. Ricardo Braga (Higher Institute of Agronomy – University of Lisbon)
A course given by Portugal's leading specialist in “precision agriculture” and “digital agriculture”. This is a unique chance to build skills in technologies applied to agriculture, encountering the most practical and effective precision agriculture techniques — attention to detail, rigorous cost management and better monitoring at micro level, thereby improving production results. “Precision Agriculture” is one of the most advanced avenues for the development of agriculture in Portugal and in developed countries.

2. Symposium “Precision Agriculture”

3. Conference “Critical points in Organic Agriculture production – plant health and nutrition”

4. Innovative farming activities worth exploring in Gondomar

Round Table – “Experiences of farm businesses in Gondomar” (with Gondomar business owners)
An event split into two sessions, allowing an integrated reflection on the main opportunities for farming and production in the municipality of Gondomar. Aimed at agricultural sector stakeholders at local and regional level, it offers a unique opportunity for rapid access to information and knowledge about the details that make all the difference in running a farm business.
The first session – “PDR 2020 public support for agricultural investment” – will set out the funding opportunities offered by PDR 2020, which are often the engine of qualified and creative investment in the sector.
The second session will bring together, in a round table, farm business owners from the municipality of Gondomar who have distinguished themselves in a particular crop, and who will be available for a productive debate aimed at generating answers for the sustained development of agriculture, from a practical and business point of view.
