Networked Cultural Programming 2020

Networked Cultural Programming is the most common expression of inter-municipal cooperation in the cultural sector. Networked cultural programming brings together territories / municipalities / cultural organisations to create a shared common calendar of cultural events that draws on both the unity and the diversity of the bodies making up the network. On the principle that there is strength in unity, networked cultural programming enables (i) budgetary efficiency in managing cultural programmes, (ii) touring and the sharing of cultural practice within the network and (iii) increased visibility for the territories and, consequently, a stronger pull on tourism flows. Networked cultural programming is an innovative, efficient and participatory cultural policy for promoting culture and profile in low-density territories.

There are several examples of Networked Cultural Programming projects in Portugal, particularly in the Centro Region, that demonstrate the benefits of this methodology in practice. 2020 marks the third year for several culture-in-network projects, with various activities:

A landscape of breaths, of voices from the five territories of Projeto Cinco – Águeda, Idanha-a-Nova, Lousã, Óbidos and São Pedro do Sul – of their communities, cultures and collective memories, of the past, the present and the future in their various forms: the spoken voice, the sung voice, the written voice (later read aloud), the sounding voice and the inner voice.

ALTO MONDEGO’ cultural network

Theatre Workshops – February 2020

These workshops will be run by director António Leal (Contracanto) to recruit and prepare participants who will take part in the Alto Mondego community co-production in 2020. The aim is to assert the Alto Mondego territory through the artistic production of a full musical theatre work, with a strong technical dimension, to be staged in the four Municipalities of the network: Fornos de Algodres, Gouveia, Mangualde and Nelas.

Beira Baixa Cultural

Culture: the invitation to visit the Beira Baixa territory.

The sub-region of Beira Baixa starts the year in the best possible way, presenting a cultural programme packed with activities. In February and March you can take part in the guided and staged visits route, in the themed culture and gastronomy workshops and, in addition, attend music festivals, free of charge!
