INCLUSION THROUGH CULTURE - Regional Pilot Project on Cultural Prescribing – Inclusion, Art, Health and Wellbeing

Objective

The Inclusion through Culture – Cultural Prescribing pilot project, framed within the ESF+ and the Portugal 2030 Regional Programmes, establishes an innovative approach to social intervention that links artistic creation, cultural heritage and the health and wellbeing system.

The measure funds the development of integrated referral networks that allow health and social care professionals to 'prescribe' participation in cultural and artistic activities to citizens experiencing isolation, social vulnerability or mental health problems. Through an adapted cultural programme, participatory workshops and monitoring of the social care impact, the project aims to democratise cultural enjoyment, strengthen community ties and promote physical and psychological health as drivers of social inclusion.
