Technological infrastructure and equipment - STEP

Objective

The Technological Infrastructure and Equipment – STEP measure, framed within Portugal 2030 and funded by the ERDF, is designed to support the creation, modernisation and expansion of technological and innovation infrastructure in strategic sectors. Aligned with the objectives of the European Union's STEP Platform, the intervention funds the acquisition of advanced scientific equipment, the strengthening of testing and prototyping laboratories, and the capacity-building of Technology Interface Centres, science parks and technology-based incubators.

Its central objective is to strengthen Europe's technological autonomy and sovereignty in the digital, biotechnology and clean-technology domains, providing the scientific and business ecosystem with the tools needed to accelerate knowledge transfer, test innovative solutions and scale up the production of critical technologies.

Eligible beneficiaries

Higher education institutions and their institutes; public or private non-profit institutions that carry out or take part in technology demonstration and transfer activities; bodies managing science and technology parks and technology-based incubators; and other public bodies
