About the Project
Work consisting of drawing up the specification document for the qualification of Trás-os-Montes Almond as a Protected Geographical Indication.
The main actions carried out by Ruris were:
- Survey and characterisation of the production system with producer organisations, almond growers, processors and packers, through technical visits to almond growers, processors and packers;
- Support in running capacity-building/awareness-raising sessions for almond growers, processors and packers on the importance of qualifying agricultural products and foodstuffs (DOP, IGP, ETG);
- Bibliographic and documentary research;
- Preparation and holding of meetings with organisations and/or professionals able to contribute information and knowledge relevant to the qualification process;
- Preparation of the specification document and the necessary supporting documents, based on the information gathered in the previous phases;
- Delivery of sessions presenting the specification documents to participating and potential almond growers, processors and packers;
- Support in preparing the qualification application to DGADR.
