Póvoa Vegetables

Ruris took part in the study on three vegetables characteristic of the Póvoa de Varzim area: Couve Penca da Póvoa (a local cabbage), Cebola da Póvoa (onion) and Tomate Coração de Boi (beefsteak tomato).

The main actions carried out by Ruris were:

• Support in preparing the qualification process for three fruit and vegetable products (Couve Penca da Póvoa, Tomate Coração de Boi and Cebola da Póvoa);
• Support in preparing the process for registering the products as "Traditional Portuguese Products" with DGADR;
• Preparation of three specification documents, based on the information previously gathered in earlier phases;
• Delivery of one capacity-building/awareness-raising session for producers on the importance of qualifying agricultural products and foodstuffs (DOP, IGP, ETG);
• Delivery of one session presenting the specification documents to participating and potential producers.
