Public Presentation of the Project “5 Municipalities. 5 Cultures. 5 Senses”

Projeto Cinco: “5 Municipalities. 5 Cultures. 5 Senses.” brings together for the first time the municipalities of Idanha-a-Nova, Óbidos, Águeda, São Pedro do Sul and Lousã in a networked cultural programming project, with the aim of projecting the cultural identity of each territory.

The presentation session is free and open to all and takes place on 5 January. The programme follows below:

Coordinated by the Municipality of Idanha-a-Nova and co-promoted with the Municipalities of Óbidos, Águeda, S. Pedro do Sul and Lousã, this project draws on the strengths and talents of each municipality in delivering artistic and cultural activities, projecting territorial identity and attracting cultural tourism.

Águeda – Creative Culture

Águeda stands out for the creative and innovative way in which it promotes culture and runs distinctive, mobilising events, making it a crucial partner in defining effective mechanisms for promotion and dissemination.

Idanha-a-Nova – Musical Culture

The award of the “Idanha-a-Nova, City of Music” designation, a UNESCO creative city, recognises the heritage and cultural dynamism of the territory linked to music production, making it a national standard-bearer in promoting territorial identity through culture.

Lousã – Pedagogical Culture

The way Lousã invests in the cultural education of young people and in building new audiences is not only a distinguishing feature of the municipality but also a benchmark policy for the sustainability of culture in low-density territories.

Óbidos – Literary Culture

Óbidos's cultural richness in literature is reflected in its membership of the UNESCO creative cities of literature network, making it a reference for other territories in the cultural promotion of historic spaces.

São Pedro Do Sul – Women's Culture

As the birthplace of important women in Portuguese cultural life, such as Isabel Silvestre, S. Pedro do Sul stands out for unique cultural patterns authored by women and for the way it values their talents.

It takes shape in an integrated plan of cultural initiatives developed and scheduled in network with all the municipalities involved.

• Cultural exchange pool across the network:

Embedding artistic and cultural practices within the network and strengthening the external visibility and profile of each municipality's cultural identity;

• Programming for urban cultural activity:

Cultural activity in the towns and villages of the network's municipalities during quieter periods, with a networked set of innovative and sensorially stimulating activities;

• Integrated artistic residencies programme:

Promoting artistic creation and interpretation closely related to the identity and cultural practices of the territories covered.
